A big Texas howdy, and welcome to our website!  If quilting is your thing, you’ve come to the right place, I hope you have time to sit back and browse for a while.  Quilt related design and publishing is what we’re all about.  FriendFolks was established in 1994 and is family owned and operated.  We’ve been in the same location for 25 years and found that we had to make some major changes as our home based business began to grow.  We built a large warehouse at the back of our property; and added a sewing studio about a year later.  It seems for the last several years we continue to be a work in progress.  Gary and I count our blessings each day as we look around and realize how wonderful it is to live and operate our business on the same piece of land.  My commute each morning is just a pleasant walk down the flagstone path that leads to my sewing room door.
God has been very good to us and we are forever thankful.

People often ask where I get my inspiration... well, inspiration just seems to be everywhere! Things our grandkids say, memories of my own childhood, the early years of married life, and raising our children offer lots of sentimental inspiration.  Last spring a hawk set up housekeeping in a huge oak tree out past the warehouse.  We could see him from the office windows as he swooped up and then down – now THAT’S inspiring!  For me, I guess it’s the simple things that spark design ideas.  I suppose my style is sort of eclectic, I like everything that has to do with stitching and quilting.  I treasure friendships, love to laugh, cry over the silliest things, and I'm pretty sentimental.  In the studio, some days I find myself working with bright cheerful colors and other days I tend toward darker colors and more traditional designs.  I really believe creativity is a gift we are given, I believe we all come to this place with it built inside us.  Once we realize it’s there, we just have to tap in and let it flow.  I love to design and create things that bring joy to my soul.  Sometimes just a funny phrase is all it takes to lift my spirits when I'm low.  I can't imagine my surroundings without the things I've made 'just because I wanted to'! I hope my designs bring happiness to others.  This is how I express myself to the world.  With fabric, a needle and thread I can pour buckets of love into the work of my hands.  Designing from the inside out is what makes my work fulfilling.

Gary and I are committed to excellence.  We work diligently to provide you with what we believe to be among the best books and patterns on the market.  It is important to us that we market our designs at a fair price, and we work diligently to be certain our patterns are easy to understand.  We include as many diagrams as necessary, along with full size drawings for stitchery, and appliqué.  All of our patterns and books are perfect for beginners and a delight for experienced quilt makers.  Share your thoughts and ideas!  We love getting to know you and value your feedback.
